We are open for tours every Wednesday evening from 7-9PM. Drop by, see the space and talk to our members.
Turn onto Watson Place from Concord Street. Turn right immediately after the firehouse (alley etween buildings). The alley will open into a courtyard, we are on the left (look for 5C sign over a loading dock door). It is OK to park in the courtyard in the evening.
One of our members purchased a CNC wood router. We're in the process of getting it tested and vetting a tool chain for it. Here are some of the parts made so far.
A group of us have been working on improving the Gensis POV POI from Adafruit ( https://learn.adafruit.com/genesis-poi-dotstar-led-persistence-of-vision-poi/overview ). This POI is constructed in a two liter bottle preform. Our improvements include larger battery and swapping the Adafruit Trinket for an ESP8266-12 (faster, more memory, WiFi).
Here is the proof-of-concept prototype. Doesn't quite fit inside the bottle preform yet but good for testing the port of the Adafruit code to the ESP8266. It created the image above.
Here are the 3D printed parts that let us mount all the parts inside the bottle preform. Everything actually fit on the first try.
